Church Council Monthly Meeting May 11, 2011

II.Meditation – Rev. Eric Schmidt read from the Gospel Matthew 28, continue to grow and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
III.Finance Committee Report – Judy Vickrey reports that Nancy Davis finished the final request/proposals for bank bids. Letters are being sent out to local businesses to invite them to be a part of the church loans. Contributions are above the budget and right on target. The Wesley budget is a being discussed and they are currently $1800 over budget.
IV.Business a.New business – Russ Coleman and Pastor Louie are talking of a two day event Heritage Celebration 2012. An invitation to former ministers and former members would be sent out and promote the history of the church; Don Riffle asked about a new sign with times; Lynn Little mentioned the back parking lot doesn’t have any visitor parking. b.Old Business-none.
V.Committee Reports:
a.Staff-Pastor-Parish Relations- Don Riffle reported the leader positions are moving around, Rev. Eric is leaving soon, interviewing for evening custodian, will advertise for a new cook in May, and Melanie Montambeault will be new children’s director. b.Trustees – Mike Powers not present.
c.Early Childhood Board (Preschool) – Sandi Bryan not present.
d.Care Ministry— Jan Brothers not present.
e.Missions-Steve Mills not present; Russ Coleman presented that the mission trip to OK will be gearing up soon.
f.Risk Taking Mission– Katy Howard not present.
g.Wesley Student Center/Foundation –Lynn Little asked about the service project plan; spoke about the UCM recycling glass; reported having nine students living at the Wesley during the summer; students are doing a rummage sale fund raiser May 13-14; students June schedule is full – greeters, car wash, pill popping for Jamaica trip, and lots more; Lynn spoke of the mold in one of the showers and the counter in the kitchen and that it is being looked at, hoping to get it fixed soon.
h.Other – Mike Cassidy reported that they had 47 attending in children’s worship, awesome. Melanie is really good at wanting to jump right in to children’s ministry. VI.Pastor/Associate Pastor Comments –Rev Eric Schmidt reports that the annual conference in Springfield is June 3-6, 2011. Mike is going to licensing school May 19th, 2011. VII.
